The third airport will be built in Antalya

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the construction of the third airport in the province of Antalya. Tour operators are confident that thanks to this, Russian tourists will be able to discover another, still little-known resort area of Antalya.

According to the plans of the Turkish government announced by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in 2022 the third international airport will open in Antalya province, capable of serving five million passengers a year. It will be placed in the western part of the province - near the city of Kas.

As the Turkish leader stated during his visit to Antalya, today the region, which, according to him, claims to be the "resort capital of the world", lacks airport facilities. Thus, the annual passenger flow of the main airport of Antalya over the past eight years has tripled and has already exceeded 31 million people. The second, small, airport of the resort province, Gazipasha near Alanya (1.5 million passengers a year), is also operating at the limit of possibilities.

"In the summer months, the main airport of Antalya is extremely busy. Additional air gates for the resort will allow to distribute traffic flows and reduce the load on the main harbor. Tourists will be able to pass through passport control faster, receive baggage faster, go through inspection," said Sergey Tolchin, executive director of one of large tour operators. Turkey expects an increase in tourist flow from Russia in 2019-2020.

According to market experts, the Kas-Demre region, where the construction of the third Antalya airport is planned, will be in no less demand among Russian tourists than Kemer or Fethiye, since this resort area combines the best properties of these neighboring regions.
